Abuse Awareness Awards

THE STANFORD MEDICAL CENTER FAMILY ABUSE PREVENTION COUNCIL (FAPC)
ANNOUNCES THE INAUGURATION OF ANNUAL ABUSE AWARENESS AWARDS

These awards were inaugurated  in 2010, and have been presented in October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, at an event sponsored by FAPC.  Each prize amount is $2500, to be spent in any way the recipient chooses.

Awards will not be presented for the year 2012.

THE RESEARCH PRIZE

THE CLINICAL PRIZE


This prize is designed to recognize the contribution that an individual at the medical center has made via basic or applied research, to further knowledge about the effects of abuse or violence on human health and well-being.


This prize is designed to recognize the contribution that an individual at the medical center has made to further the understanding, recognition, support or treatment of patient or employee partner/family abuse.


Eligibility:
1.  The nominee is an employee or student/trainee of Stanford Hospital and Clinics, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, or the Stanford School of Medicine.

2.  The research topic needs to directly or indirectly address the effects of abuse or violence on human health and well-being.  Abuse or violence does not need to be a key focus of the research, but it is necessary that the research result could apply to the issue of abuse or violence.

3.  The research needs to have resulted in a publication, poster, or medical presentation.


Eligibility:
1.  The nominee is an employee, student/trainee, adjunct faculty, or volunteer at Stanford Hospital and Clinics, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, or the Stanford School of Medicine.

2.  The work that the nominee has done has created awareness of, education about, or improvement of patient/employee care within the Stanford Medical Center community with regards to partner/family abuse.

3.  The work that the nominee has done has demonstrated a tangible impact in culture change or systems change.
